In the corrosion laboratory we perform and evaluate a number of corrosion resistance tests on materials, mainly steels and protective coatings.

Tests:

  • Accelerated salt spray tests according to ČSN EN ISO 9227 (or ASTM B117) at 35 °C, relative humidity 100 % from an aqueous solution of 5% NaCl.
  • Tests in a climate chamber from -70 °C to +180 °C according to ČSN EN 60068-2-30 (Environmental testing - Part 2-30: Db test: Damp heat cycling), IEC 68-2-38 (Electrochemical and electronic products. Basic tests on the influence of external environmental factors. Part 2-38. Test Z/AD: Composite temperature and humidity cyclic test) or similar tests (EN 60068-2-14).
  • Exposure tests in a condensing chamber of ČSN EN ISO 6270 in the temperature range 30 - 40 °C at 98 - 100 % humidity.
  • Cyclic immersion tests ČSN EN ISO 11130
  • Corrosion and electrochemical tests ČSN EN ISO 17475
  • Stress corrosion cracking tests using lever loaders and accessories EN ISO 7538

Monitoring and evaluation of corrosion resistance according to ČSN EN ISO 10289 (Methods of corrosion testing of metallic and other inorganic coatings on metallic substrates - Evaluation of samples and products subjected to corrosion tests) using a stereomicroscope or a metallographic microscope or a scanning electron microscope. We also perform damage analysis of parts and materials in the field of technical practice.

Instrumentation equipment:

  • Corrosion chamber with salt fog Liebisch - internal volume 440 l
  • MKFT 115 climatic chamber - internal volume 115 l
  • Condensing chamber Kovo-Finish - internal volume 260 l
  • Potentiostats/galvanostats PGP 201 and PGZ 100 Volta-Lab Radiometer with accessories (corrosion cells, electrodes)
