The metallographic preparation laboratory is primarily equipped with Struers instruments. Within the laboratory it is possible to carry out all the steps associated with the preparation of metallographic samples for further observation and processing, i.e. cutting, cold and hot preparation, grinding and polishing, and etching to induce microstructure. Classical sample sizes can be prepared for evaluation as well as samples for macroscopic evaluation.

We have an etching room as part of our laboratory. In our etching facilities, we perform structure development on all common structural materials, from aluminum and copper alloys to titanium and nickel alloys, to steels and technical ceramics.

Instrumentation equipment:

  • Saw Labotom-3 - precision saw with cooling.
  • Struers EpuVac vacuum cell - for cold sample preparation using epoxy resins.
  • Press with heating Struers LaboPress-1 - for hot pressure specimen preparation (150 °C and 180 °C), the prepared specimen is in the shape of a cylinder with a diameter of 30 mm.
  • Struers Labopol 60 and Labopol 5 multifunctional station with accessories - multifunctional device for plane grinding and polishing of samples.
