Net Zero Lab

Net Zero Lab is a university research and development centre focused on industrial decarbonisation, carbon footprint calculations, and the creation of data models required for Digital Product Passports (DPP) and regulatory reporting at the EU level.

It focuses on:

  • Carbon footprint calculations for Scope 1–3 and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
  • Data models and architecture for Digital Product Passports (ESPR, PPWR, ELVR)
  • Working with primary industrial data and converting them into ESG and DPP datasets
  • Methodologies and the use of national and sector-specific emission factors

Within research and development, it focuses on:

  • Modelling emission and material flows in value chains
  • Developing calculation methodologies, data validation and verification
  • Pilot projects for practical DPP implementation

Its role in the ecosystem:

Net Zero Lab connects academia, industry, and public administration and supports:

  • the implementation of CSRD, ESRS, ESPR, PPWR, ELVR,
  • the shift from proxy data to auditable primary data,
  • interoperable data standards for ESG and DPP.

Its added value lies in:

  • The professional credibility of a university research centre
  • The ability to link legislation, data, and industrial practice
  • Support for strategic investments and data-driven decarbonisation decisions
