SIMD

The laboratory focuses on testing the mechanical properties of construction materials and evaluating their structures, as well as analysing the failure of construction components and investigating the causes of their loss of function and technological defects. Analyses typically include sudden brittle fracture, intense plastic deformation and fatigue failure, as well as the combined effects of these processes, and processes of surface damage, wear, corrosion or fretting.

The laboratory performs a wide range of mechanical property tests, including producing test specimens and fixtures. The laboratory team can design and prepare specialised tests tailored to customer requirements. Microstructural causes of material damage are studied using optical, confocal or scanning electron microscopy. Many of the tests provided are accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute (ČIA).
