Dean Kamila Janovská Re-Elected to Lead FMT

The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (FMT) at VSB–Technical University of Ostrava has re-elected Kamila Janovská, as Dean for the upcoming 2026–2030 term. Her re-election reflects the continued trust of the academic community in her leadership and in the long-term development strategy she has set for the faculty.

Prof. Janovská has been closely connected with FMT throughout her entire professional career—from her student years, through academic and research activities, to the leadership of the faculty. She is recognised as both a respected expert in her field and an experienced higher education manager. Her professional CV highlights extensive involvement in teaching, supervision of final theses, and participation in numerous research projects. She has also held several important positions at the faculty, including Vice-Dean for Educational Activities.

Her programme for the new term focuses on three key pillars:

  • further strengthening the quality of education and student support,
  • enhancing research infrastructure and scientific excellence,
  • building a clearly profiled and strategically led faculty brand.

She emphasises the modernisation of education, support for young researchers, increasing international visibility, and fostering strong cooperation with industrial partners. Her goal is to create an environment that inspires and supports both students and staff.

“I want the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology to be a place where academic excellence goes hand in hand with a human approach, and where students and employees feel that their work is meaningful and brings real results,” she states in her election programme.

The re-election of Prof. Kamila Janovská ensures continuity and stability in the leadership of the faculty-both essential for fulfilling FMT’s long-term strategic goals. The Faculty congratulates her and wishes her every success in the upcoming term.
