What if an error is not a problem, but an opportunity? This idea lies at the heart of the extensive exhibition "ERROR. Where Something Extraordinary Begins." presented by the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava at Meat Design 2026. Visitors will be taken on a journey through the worlds of materials, technology, design, and art. The central theme of this year’s festival is “ERROR”, and our exhibition will demonstrate how unexpected outcomes, deviations from the original plan, and the courage to experiment often lead to the most remarkable discoveries and innovations.
Visitors can look forward to the unique SC Titan electric supersport car, ceramic vases created using 3D printing technology, artistic castings, and even the transformation of medical aids into jewelry. All of this is connected through a diverse range of materials and manufacturing technologies.
The program will also feature the unconventional fashion show On the Body | Design as a Journey, in which students will present medical devices transformed into design objects, as well as a lecture by student Ivana Vlčková, titled ERROR. SECOND CHANCE. A NEW BEGINNING. The lecture will explore the idea of second chances from several perspectives: a new life for materials through recycling and modern technologies, and a new life for waste through creativity and art.
It will show that progress is rarely achieved through perfection alone. Instead, it emerges through exploration, experimentation, and the ability to change perspective. Because an error does not have to mean the end of a story. It can become its most fascinating chapter.
Come and discover that the path to extraordinary ideas does not have to be perfect. Sometimes, it is precisely an error that opens the door to the most interesting possibilities.
