About study programme
The study program Chemical and Environmental Engineering is a modern interdisciplinary study program with good graduate application. Students will be acquainted with chemical-engineering methods of modeling and calculations of chemical, food and other technological processes, with laboratory and operational experiments and with computer technology and information technologies. They have the opportunity to use top-class equipment, engage in research teams, participate in solving interesting research projects, or attend part of their studies abroad. Excellent students have the opportunity to continue with this program even in doctoral studies.
Graduate's employment
The graduate has the possibility of applying in the process (chemical, metallurgical, processing, food, etc.) industries in production, research and development positions, analytical laboratories as a separate chemist-analyst or in leading positions in these laboratories or as an expert for protection of the environment in chemical and other industrial enterprises. Furthermore, in companies and institutions engaged in consultancy, design and research activities in the field of the environment or in the government administration, environmental departments of municipal authorities. It can also find job in related fields of science, research and education.
Study aims
The aim of the study is the education of a process-oriented expert who is able to accurately describe the processes, their simulation and the design of technological devices. He knows the methods used for the monitoring of organic and inorganic substances, the basic principles of environmental assessment and the influence of industrial technologies on environment. He is able to apply the theoretical knowledge of corporate economic management.
The Masters study program Chemistry and Environmental Engineering is structured into three specializations - Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Methods of Analysis for Process and Environmental Engineering. On a common engineering basis, the theoretical chemical and physical principles of processes occurring both in plants used in production technologies and environmental technologies are discussed. Students are also, theoretically and practically, acquainted with advanced analytical methods that allow control of production and processing technologies, quality control of output or waste products in industry. The language teaching of the students is focused on mastering professional communication in a foreign language. The student can further develop in the given areas by choosing a specialization.
Graduate's knowledge
Graduate has extensive knowledge in general exact sciences and in chemistry, corresponding to the current state of knowledge and master processes of process engineering. Based on his specialization in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Methods of Analysis for Process and Environmental Engineering, he is universally ready for engineering work in process technology enterprises (chemistry, fuel industry, manufacturing, food, metallurgy), not only in terms of assessment of operational or process flows, but also in terms of quality according to the qualitative or quantitative parameters of the production or waste flows. In addition, he is able to assess the impact of these technologies on the environment and to propose corrective solutions.
Graduate's skills
Graduates can apply their knowledge and ability to solve the problem in a new or unfamiliar environment within wider (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study. The graduate is able to readily acquire new activities in industrial and research laboratories and design companies and can well use his qualifications in science, education and government.
Graduate's general competence
The graduate will be able to decide independently and responsibly in new or changing contexts, taking into account the wider social implications of decision making, to communicate clearly and convincingly to experts and the wider public their own professional opinions. He will also be able to apply physical, chemical and physico-chemical knowledge in process and equipment projections and in process assessment in industry and environment. Using professional knowledge independently and creatively solve the theoretical or practical problem according to chosen specialization. To solve a complex problem in a creative way using selected theories, concepts and methods of the field.
